No. Microsoft Access is still included in Microsoft 365 business plans and in the current perpetual release, Access LTSC 2024, and Microsoft has not announced an end-of-life date for the product. Rumors that Access is “going away” have circulated for more than a decade, but none of them has come true.
What has changed is where Microsoft invests. New development effort goes mostly into Power Platform, Dataverse, and cloud services, while Access receives security patches, maintenance updates, and occasional small improvements. Some related pieces have been retired along the way, such as Access web apps and, in 2026, the standalone Database Compare tool.
It also helps to separate the product from your version. Older perpetual versions like Access 2010, 2013, and 2016 have reached or passed the end of their support lifecycles, which means no more security fixes. A database built in an old version usually runs fine in current Access, but the old installation itself should be retired.
For most businesses, that means Access is stable but not growing. You can keep running it safely with proper maintenance and support, and plan a migration when your business needs remote access, more users, or tighter security, not because of a headline. A free diagnostic is a good way to find out where your database stands and how much runway it has.
