Access 97 to Access 365 Migration for a Manufacturer

A manufacturing distributor was running mission-critical operations on a database that traced back to Access 97 — decades of accumulated business logic, no documentation, and increasing risk every time Windows or Office updated. We mapped the existing schema and logic, then migrated the system forward to modern Access 365 without disrupting daily operations, preserving decades of institutional knowledge in the process.

Order Management & Approval Workflow System

The Challenge

A specialty chemical sales organization had field representatives ordering water treatment products across dozens of separate vendor accounts, each with its own product catalog and pricing. Orders requiring approval had no consistent routing process, and there was no reliable way to track an order’s status from submission through fulfillment.

The Solution

Our team built a canvas Power App running entirely on SharePoint lists, with Power Automate handling all approval logic behind the scenes. Key features included:

  • Dynamic product catalogs that load automatically based on the selected vendor account, so pricing always matches the right account
  • Fully configurable approval routing — administrators set dollar thresholds and assign approvers directly inside the app, with no need to edit the underlying automation
  • Automatic routing so submitters never have to choose an approver themselves; orders route based on amount alone, and orders below the lowest threshold are approved instantly
  • A dedicated approvals queue giving each approver a single view of everything awaiting their decision, with actionable approval emails driving the workflow
  • A purchasing queue that tracks approved orders through to fulfillment, giving the team a running total of what still needs to be placed
  • Built-in help that reads live from the same configuration data administrators maintain, so documentation never drifts out of sync with the actual rules in effect

The Outcome

The organization moved from an ad hoc, email-driven approval process to a fully auditable system where every order’s status, approval history, and fulfillment state is visible in one place — with zero manual routing decisions required from staff.

Multi-Entity Portfolio Tracking System

The Challenge

A national title agency was managing due diligence across a large portfolio of retail real estate sites for a major convenience store chain. Site status, outstanding issues, transaction contacts, and document versions were scattered across spreadsheets and email threads, with no shared source of truth for the title team, buyer, lender, and surveyor.

The Solution

Our team designed a SharePoint Online-backed tracking system relating several distinct entity types into one coherent, relational data model:

  • Portfolio-wide site search, filterable by store number, address, county, or status
  • Issue tracking grouped by responsible party (due diligence, buyer, lender, surveyor), with each issue carrying its own type, description, and open/close dates
  • Per-site detail views combining order information, property address, open issue counts by party, and recent document activity — answering the one question every stakeholder needs answered: what’s still outstanding on this site?
  • Transaction contact records for every party involved — title, settlement, seller and seller’s counsel, buyer and buyer’s counsel, lender and lender’s counsel, and surveyor — eliminating the need to dig through email chains to find who represents whom
  • Versioned document logging so a fifth revision of a commitment is clearly distinguishable from the first
  • Bulk upload for loading hundreds of document log entries from a spreadsheet template in a single pass, rather than one at a time
